Course Description

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound negative effect on mental health worldwide. Research demonstrates that a significant number of COVID-19 survivors are diagnosed with at least one psychiatric disorder within 6 months of contracting COVID. Post-COVID mental health problems are diverse and include anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, sleep disturbance, posttraumatic stress disorder, other trauma- and stress-related disorders, grief, increased risk of suicide and brain fog. Dr. Martha Koo, M.D. and Lindsey Rae Ackerman, LMFT, will discuss the interplay between COVID and mental health, the common COVID-induced and pandemic-exacerbated diagnoses, the importance of a multidisciplinary team approach for intervention and treatment, and effective biological, therapeutic and behavioral treatment strategies.

Course completion certificates will be awarded at the end of the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form.

This course meets qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credits for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s, and LEP’s as required but the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
