What Are Amphetamines?
Amphetamines are a class of central nervous system stimulants. They derive from the Ephedra sinica plant. Amphetamines include drugs like Ritalin and Adderall. When prescribed, these treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). However, they have become widely popular among college and high school students as a recreational drug.
Amphetamines impact the central nervous system and can be prescribed by doctors to treat a range of disorders, such as:
- Parkinson’s disease
- Attention deficit disorder (ADD)
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Despite the benefits of amphetamines, they are dangerous and highly addictive. The physiological response they produce is what leads many young people to abuse this drug.
How We Treat Amphetamine Addiction
Clear Recovery takes a unique approach to addiction treatment. We focus on the individual circumstances of each patient and the substances they struggle with.
Each patient is different. We welcome all ages, levels of dependency, and most importantly, people from all life circumstances.
With substance abuse, a person feels compelled to consume a drug, no matter the consequences. But like all diseases, an addict cannot overcome amphetamine addiction without treatment.
A person struggling with amphetamines may believe they will overcome addiction by force of will. Of course, this is not true. It only leads the addict down a more dangerous and unstable path. The more they try to treat their addiction and fail, the more they will feel less in control of their lives.
Clear Recovery Center offers a safe haven for those struggling with amphetamine addiction. All of our patients leave our facility not only treated, but with a feeling of being understood.
Substance abuse stems from deeper problems in an addict’s life. Young adults often abuse amphetamines in order to self-medicate. This may be for the sake of keeping up with a fast-paced schedule, or high standards at school. It might also be an attempt to cope with an emotional trauma that they have yet to confront.
Treating only the symptoms of addiction often leads to relapse. This is because the underlying problems are still there. Addiction has a measurable, physical impact on the brain. When treatments focus solely on symptoms, patients return to their same cycle of habits and addiction prior to detox. Such treatments fail to address the root of the problem.
That’s why Clear Recovery Center focuses on holistic treatments. We take the entire individual into account. We get to know their unique trauma, emotions, and their needs post-treatment. Clear Recovery Center prioritizes rehabilitation and long-term recovery goals. Our aim is to help clients go on to lead fulfilling lives, even after substance abuse.

Clear Recovery Center offers three treatment programs. Each program is suitable for patients at different stages in the recovery process. The goal is to offer programs that fit the unique needs and lifestyles of each patient.
This is the first stage of the recovery process after supervised detox at a medical facility. Partial hospitalization focuses on behavioral therapy and intensive counseling.
The partial hospitalization program convenes 5 days per week for 5 hours each session. The sessions take place at a Clear Recovery Center location. This program lasts between 2 and 8 weeks.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The intensive outpatient program schedule adjusts to each person’s needs. It lasts up to a total of 12 weeks. This program meets 3 days a week for 4 hours at a time. The intensive outpatient program helps patients take the initial steps to transition back into their normal lives.
Clients in the intensive outpatient program practice their new coping skills. They also benefit from having a support system.
The outpatient program prepares individuals to integrate back into daily life. They still receive continued support from their friends and community at Clear Recovery Center.
The outpatient program helps clients in the final stages of their recovery. This program meets only 1 to 2 times per week. It allows clients plenty of time to live their own lives while still benefiting from access to our center’s guidance.

How Amphetamines Are Used
Amphetamines are not often habit-forming when taken as prescribed. With the correct doses, they treat a variety of diseases. However, amphetamine abuse does lead to addiction.
Amphetamines come in a variety of forms, including:
- Pills or capsules
Users abusing the drug might partake through various methods:
- Injecting (aka “shooting up”)
- Dabbing onto the gums
Signs of amphetamine abuse might include pill bottles with labels missing. Users might also leave syringes or snorting implements laying around. If you suspect someone you know is addicted to amphetamines, call Clear Recovery Center today. Reach out to the center nearest you to find out how to help your loved one.
Why Amphetamines Are Addictive
Amphetamines are powerful stimulants. They alter brain chemistry through repeated use. When not prescribed and supervised, these stimulants can lead to dependence and addiction.
Teens and young adults seek out amphetamines for a short-term boost in energy. However, they can soon experience the long-term effects of substance abuse. With severe addiction, they will feel unable to function without amphetamines.
Anyone struggling with amphetamine addiction can reach out to Clear Recovery Center today. We are here to help patients start their journey toward a new, fulfilling life free from the grip of amphetamines.
