He utilizes cognitive, psychodynamic, and behavioral existential therapies to treat individuals with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. As Clear Recovery Center’s Clinical Director, Dr. Sean O’Hara spearheads a multidisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, therapists, clinical social workers, and certified counselors.

Dr. O’Hara served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Addiction Specialists and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) for nine years. Dr. O’Hara has experience working with a diverse population of corporations, athletes in collegiate and national sports associations as well as celebrities in the entertainment industry. A pundit for sober living, Dr. O’Hara is dedicated to advancing clinical practices for sustainable relief from addiction and mental illness.

Dr. O’Hara enjoys live music, surfing, traveling, and all that Southern California has to offer.

Basel is currently working towards the next step in his academic endeavors at Antioch University to further himself as a trained professional in this field. In his spare time, Basel enjoys snowboarding, exercise, hiking and spending time at the beach.

Dr. Martha B. Koo, M.D., a graduate of Princeton University and UCLA Medical School, is double Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and has over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and pharmaceutical treatment for individuals and families.

As Clear Recovery Center’s contracted psychiatrist, Dr. Koo provides addiction therapy and medication management for clients on a specialized, individual basis. She also works closely with a network of recovery homes.

Dr. Koo serves as Medical Director of the Manhattan Beach Professional Group and the South Bay TMS Therapy Center.

She is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the New Center for Psychoanalysis, the Clinical TMS Society, The American Society of Addiction Medicine, the California Psychiatric Society and the Southern California Psychiatric Society.

He received his Masters of Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles and is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). He teaches mindfulness to both adults and children in group settings such as schools, corporate workplaces, and medical treatment facilities.

Charley has received extensive training in mindfulness practice and its application in psychotherapy, and he uses these collaboratively with clients to increase resilience, self-worth and a felt sense of security. He also has a background working with clients recovering from trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction and shame-based thinking. Charley’s approach is mindful and body-centered as he assists clients in increasing awareness of feelings, needs, and individual values in order to move towards well-being and whole-hearted living. Charley is happily married to his wife Tara Thomas and they have a wonderful eight-year old son, Murphey.

She believes in emphasizing strengths and promoting growth by employing an integrative approach to psychotherapy. By doing so she is able to individualize the best possible treatment for each client with a particular focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques.

Erin works diligently to maintain presence and attunement with her clients and is conscientious, open, creative, and passionate about working in the field of substance abuse treatment. Erin has experience working in residential treatment and outpatient treatment for both adolescents and adults. Outside of work, Erin enjoys maintaining her yoga practice as well as spending time outdoors in nature.

His primary practice is Gestalt therapy, an existential and experiential form of psychotherapy. He emphasizes personal responsibility, a therapist–client relationship and environmental and social contexts of the client’s life in the recovery process.

Born and raised in South Bay, Evan offers valuable experience with the youths’ challenges, such as balancing academics, social pressures and family relationships. Evan is also highly specialized in school intervention for at-risk teens with 5 years of dedication to the South Bay youth community, counseling 1st to 12th grade students. Evan intuitively understands how to approach, mentor and inspire troubled youth.

Lisa Todd Peterson earned her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, California. Lisa worked at the Oregon Research Institute where she used the Cognitive Behavioral Model and Motivational Interviewing for research proposes while working with adolescents struggling with substance abuse.

Lisa has extensive experience and personal background in the twelve-step model of recovery. She believes that a non-judgmental and collaborative approach with clients enables them to identify problematic behaviors associated with substance abuse and work towards emotional growth and healing. Lisa hopes that her clients find the therapeutic process both helpful and meaningful.

In addition to her contributions to the Clear Recovery Center team, Lisa has a private practice in Hermosa Beach where she provides psychotherapy to individual adults, adolescents and couples.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist intern, Reid guides clients in a manner that is born from his own experience, which lends him an empathy and a capacity for insight that is unparalleled. His clinical interests include relapse prevention, family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy and the spiritual aspects of recovery. His main goal is to help clients become empowered through their recovery so that they can, in turn, transform their dreams into reality.

Reid resides in Manhattan Beach with his wife and two children and is currently pursuing his Doctorate.

Her training has brought her coast to coast, and she has extensive experience in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to her clinical roles at various treatment centers, Sophia provides individual and family therapy at Manhattan Beach Professional Group under the supervision of Dr. Martha Koo, M.D. As a trained fine artist, Sophia may also incorporate art and creative therapies into her work. Sophia is an active member of the National Associate of Social Workers.

Her personal experience, her strong belief in the 12-step model of recovery and her passion for helping others reconnect with their families make her an incredible asset to the Clear family.

Alicia’s favorite part about working in recovery is witnessing “the magical shift” that happens for others in the areas of sustained sobriety, health and wellness, family and relationships, and spirituality.

Alicia is currently pursuing her CDAC-1 and looks forward to enrolling in an undergraduate program in psychology, so that she can become a therapist and a life coach. In her spare time, she loves spending quality time with her family and kids, going to the gym, and spending quiet time at home.

Prior to working at Clear Recovery, Jana was a counselor on staff at Momma’s House a Palm Desert rehabilitation center for women and children and has volunteered at Miriam’s House a non-profit sober living home for women and children located in Los Angeles.

Jana’s personal experiential learning with IP and IOP treatment centers, her commitment in the field of addiction and recovery, as well as her belief in the 12-step program process, make her an asset to the community at Clear Recovery.

Jana, a single mother whose personal interests include spending time with her three small children that has cultivated in a passion for women with children, who struggle with addiction. Additionally, Jana enjoys studying ballet, going to the movies, and practicing Pilates.

He earned a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at California State University, Northridge, and completed training to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). David is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

David is the founder of Nutrition In Recovery, which specializes in the nutritional management of Food Addiction, Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, Weight Management, Sports Nutrition, and General Wellness. Nutrition in Recovery services includes consultation, screening/assessment, meal planning, process groups, group education, individual counseling, outings/events including supermarket tours, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
